The voltage regulator is an autotransformer with a continuously adjustable turns ratio. By turning the handwheel spindle and brush holder, the brushes slide along the polished surface of the coil, allowing the turns ratio to change and the output voltage to be smoothly adjusted from zero to the maximum voltage.

Construction

1. Unit Structure:

2. Single Phase Assembly:

   • Larger single-phase voltage regulators are assembled from multiple units of the same specification. Coils are connected in parallel at the input and to a balanced reactor at the output to ensure equal current distribution.

3. Brush Structure:

   • graphite brushes with a metal frame for heat dissipation.
